It is a great pleasure to co-host LEUTräff #5. LEU is the new digital currency for Zurich, with a programmed basic income of 22 LEU every 10 days. The goal is to boost local businesses in Zurich and launch a monetary system based on equal opportunities. Leu is an Encointer Community, which provides a global platform for local community currencies such as LEU.
During the LEUTräff the community can discuss how to get there. There is always a special guest giving a talk (German). For LEUTräff #5 this is: Jens Martignoni.
Jens Martignoni, longtime managing director of FleXibles, has been working on the development of alternative economies and new monetary systems for many years. He is also a lecturer at the ZHW Winterthur / Switzerland on topics such as currency design and sustainable economic models. At LEUträff #5 he will inform us about what it takes to reinvent money. Martignoni's talk will be followed by a discussion where questions about new money systems and the new digital currency LEU can be asked. As well as further hints on what can strengthen LEU, as a new attempt to shape money differently.
Before the talk we will inform about the latest news on Leu and report how the currency and the Leu community are developing.
It will also be possible again to buy the new digital currency LEU and spend it at the bar and for exclusive T-shirts.
Background: We at Encointer pursue the vision of reducing global and local inequality by introducing a monetary system with equal opportunities. We are currently testing and improving our global platform for local community currencies with integrated basic income using the first currency and community called "Leu" here in Zurich.
The event will take place from 18:00 to 20:00 at L200 in Zurich.
To read up on the topic we recommend Jens Martignoni's book “Das Geld neu erfinden”.
